We knew that we would repeat a few destinations on this trip to Ireland, but we also knew that we wanted to see a few new towns this time around. So since we were going to be in Blarney, visiting Cork City and the English Market came highly recommended.
First stop of the day, Blarney Castle, where we had to “Kiss the Blarney Stone. ”
And a repeat of a picture from 4 years ago…
And after a gruelling climb up some precarious (NON-OSHA compliant) stairs, Jeremy leaned over the side wall to kiss the Blarney. Yes, you kiss the same stone that hundreds of your closest friends have kissed that day…bleh!
Even if climbing a medieval castle with questionable safety doesn’t thrill you, the castle grounds are absolutely worth the trip.
Next stop of the day… The English Market in Cork City. Let’s just say, I was in Foodie Heaven. Why can’t we have something like this at home!?!!!
Of course, you know me. I’m going to buy stuff at a market like this. A loaf of fresh sourdough bread, 8 slices of pork belly, a baggie of oil cured olives, and fresh handmade cheese. Yes, I’m cooking dinner tomorrow night.
Completely accidental, we stumbled upon a small upstairs restaurant filled with locals and some of the best food I have ever eaten. Lamb cutlets know gravy, fresh veggies, omelets, soda bread, lentil soup, and even, lasagna… We ate a little bit of everything.
And last but not least… We have a warning about Cork City. There is a crack in the street.
You’re welcome…
And my the end of the day, my Meth hair was back… Lol
