Cinnamon Cake Mix Donuts

I love a good kitchen hack as much as the next person, but what makes me really happy is when the kitchen hack is a hit with my kids and family.

One of the staples that I keep in my pantry is a box of cake mix. Let’s face it; a cake mix is nothing more than pre-measured flour, sugar, and leavening, so it’s uses are endless and a time saver in the kitchen.

For this morning’s breakfast menu, I pulled out a box of white cake mix and with a few added ingredients and a donut pan bought at a local thrift store, we had Cinnamon Cake Mix Donuts.

Cinnamon Cake Mix Donuts


  • 1 white cake mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1 TBSP ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1/2 c. milk


  1. Whisk together all ingredients. Spoon batter into a ziploc bag, snip the end, and pipe batter into a greased donut pan. If you don't have a donut pan, use a mini muffin pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
