Fancy Foods that are Surprisingly Easy to Make at Home

If you think that the only way you can enjoy a nice meal is by going to a restaurant, then you couldn’t be more mistaken. In fact, it’s more than possible for you to make all of these fancy meals at home without having to worry about a thing.

Paella

Paella is actually named after the vessel which it is cooked in. It’s the best meal for you to cook if you are making dinner for two, but it is easily versatile enough to serve to a bigger group. The very traditional Spanish dish is super festive, and it is very fun to eat as well. It’s got a very big ingredient list though, as you will need to include seafood, vegetables, meat, sausage, seasonings and more. If you are deterred by this, then don’t be- you can easily make this in well under an hour. You just need to make sure that you cook every ingredient in the same pan. If you want it to be super authentic, then make sure that you include saffron threads. Sure, they are a bit of an investment, but the shelf-life makes them well worth the investment.

Steak

Hangar steak is the best cut for you to be using here. If you cross the very rich flavour that comes with the famous ribeye steak with the tenderness of a beef tenderloin, you will end up with a hangar steak. This is a very tasty piece of meat that comes from the lower belly. This part of the cow does the least work, so it is very tender, and it has an incredible flavour. Home cooks may well be intimidated by this, but you shouldn’t be. It doesn’t require a lot of seasoning, as the flavour of the beef will really come through. As long as you get a strong sear, you won’t have to worry about a thing.  If you want to do another beef meal, check out this beef burgundy recipe.

Spanakopita

This is a savoury pie from Greece. It’s traditionally made by using phyllo dough, and it is filled with both feta and spinach. It’s a show-stopper if you are hosting a gathering, but the most challenging part is the pastry. It’s super delicate, and it is paper thin as well. Another thing that you need to know about this pastry is that it dries out very easily. You will need to work with speed if you want to make the most out of your recipe.

Lobster

Lobster might cost you a bit in terms of money, but it is a tasty treat, and it can make everyone feel special. When you cook lobster, you might be fearful of getting it right but breaking down a whole lobster is actually way easier than it sounds. If you want to take a shortcut, then you should know that you can easily buy the tail meat from the supermarket separately. This meal is harder to do if you are cooking for more than two, purely because of the timing required to baste and finish the lobster properly, but it’s not necessarily a hard or complex dish.
